Christmas Crockpot Compote

Close your eyes and imagine the smell of cooked apples, pears and cranberries. Sweetened with brown sugar and spiced with cinnamon. Take in the warming aroma. Mouthwatering, isn’t it? Don’t you just want to take a bite of some Christmas Compote?

Crockpot compote ingredients

Ingredients + Tools:

  • 8 oz. bag of cranberries
  • 3 large granny smith apples cored and sliced, skins on
  • 2 large pears cored and sliced, skins on
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter
  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 tablespoons + 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • Fork + silicone spatula

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl add apples, pears, cranberries, cinnamon, granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour. Mix thoroughly.
  2. In a medium sized bowl mix 3 tablespoons flour, brown sugar, old fashion oats. Add the cold butter and using a fork cut the butter into the mixture till well incorporated and crumbly.
  3. Add the fruit mixture into the crockpot and evenly pour oats on top of the fruit.
  4. Set crockpot on high and let cook undisturbed. After 1 hour give compote a thorough mix, stirring oats into the fruit. Put lid back on and cook for another hour, mixing occasionally.
  5. Serve straight from the crockpot and enjoy!

My family makes this recipe each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it’s always a hit! We serve it as a side dish but it can be served as a dessert too! Just serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and you’ll be in Heaven!
