There is no henna in this shade. That absence is what makes an ash tone possible: henna's warm red under a blue reads brown, not ash. This is one of six henna- shades we make.

Give it three days. Indigo is doing all of the colouring on its own here, and indigo is the slowest pigment we work with. The blue-green cast at the first rinse is expected.

Unlike traditional chemical dyes—or so-called “natural” dyes that rely on synthetic stabilizers—Radico’s Colour Me Organic achieves its color solely through natural botanical processes.

Darkest Ash Blonde is formulated without henna, making it an i choice for those who wish to avoid even the slightest red or warm undertone. This exclusive herbal blend creates a cool, matte ash tone with depth and sophistication.

Because this shade contains a higher proportion of indigo, the color may initially appear slightly blue or greenish immediately after application. This is completely normal. As the indigo oxidizes naturally, the shade deepens and settles into its intended dark ash blonde tone over 48 hours to several days.

Depending on the length of the hair, portion hair powder in the following amount:

What kind of colour this is

Most plant colour starts with henna, and henna gives one thing: a warm red-orange. Every brown and black we make is that warmth with indigo layered over it.

This shade skips henna entirely. Amla leads the list, indigo comes second, and the remaining two herbs carry no pigment at all. With nothing warm underneath to cancel it, what indigo gives is a cool matte ash.

What to expect — and why it takes longer

• Right after rinsing — slightly blue or green. That's the indigo before it has met the air, and it is more visible here than in our browns because there is nothing warm underneath it.
• Over 48 hours — the tone deepens and settles.
• Several days — it can keep shifting. Judge your colour on day three at the earliest.

In our browns, henna's colour is there from the moment you rinse and indigo builds on top of it. Here there is nothing underneath — the whole result is the oxidation, so the whole result takes its time.

Do not blow-dry. Not while the paste is on, and not for the first 24 hours after rinsing. Dry the paste and nothing transfers; dry the hair afterwards and the colour stalls at the blue-green stage. Shower cap while it processes, air-dry after.
